After you send

What your advisor sees, and what happens if they need something else.

Once you press send, your answers and documents go to the firm that sent you the form. This article explains what you will see, what the firm receives, and what happens if they need anything else.

What you see straight away

After you send, a confirmation page tells you the firm has what you sent. It shows when it was received and how many answers and documents you sent, and says what happens next. If the page says There is nothing else for you to do., you are finished. If you chose I’ll send it later for a document, you can send the rest without it, and the firm asks you for that document when they need it.

If the firm gave you documents to read and acknowledge as part of the form, the thank-you page also has links to your own copies.

If the request came to you by email, you will also get an email confirming that the firm received what you sent. It does not include your answers or documents, so it is safe to keep. To read your answers back or download your documents again, see Your record with a firm.

What the firm receives

The firm gets everything you sent: your answers, your documents and, if the form asked for one, your signature. It all arrives together in one place.

Unless the firm has turned it off, software reads each document to work out what it is, check it against what was asked for, and summarize what arrived. It is done by Claude models on Amazon Bedrock, in the United States, and it helps the firm review what you sent. Nothing you send is used to train a model.

Social Security numbers and account numbers you entered in their own boxes are shown to the firm masked, with only the last four digits visible.

If the firm needs something else

Sometimes a document is hard to read, a page is missing, or the firm realizes they need one more thing. If so, they will send you a message by email or text, depending on how they contacted you. It uses the same link as before.

When you open it:

Send the missing items the same way you did before, then press send again.

If the firm wrote to you about a particular document, you may get a message that starts "New message from" and the firm's name. It says which document it is about. A message about your request as a whole names the form instead.

If something is not working

If the form will not let you do something, or a page does not work as it should, press Report a problem with this form at the bottom of the page and say what happened. It goes to the firm, which can help you, and to Cartenda, which runs the form for them, so the problem can be fixed. Do not include your Social Security number or an account number.

If you made a mistake

After you send, the form is closed to you, so you cannot change what you sent. That way nothing gets sent twice by accident. If you spot a mistake or forgot something, contact the firm. They can send the form back to you so you can fix it, or ask you for just the missing piece.

If you open the link later and see This link has closed, the firm is no longer taking answers through it. This can be because the request is finished, the link has expired, or the firm withdrew it. If you still need to send them something, press Ask for a new link. The firm is told you asked, and if a new link can be sent, it goes to the email address or phone number they already have for you. The old link then stops working. If nothing arrives, contact the firm using the details at the bottom of the page.

How long your documents are kept

The firm decides how long your documents are kept. Many firms are required to keep client records for several years. If you would like to know their policy, or want something corrected or deleted, ask the firm. It is their record, and they have the tools to help.

For how your documents are protected, see Is this link safe?.

Still stuck? The quickest help is from the firm that sent it, whose contact details are at the bottom of the form they sent you.
